Vehicle Product

Overview

Comprehensive data covering product orders, build history, tracking, genealogy, quality metrics, and verification records. This catalog provides end-to-end visibility into the product lifecycle, supporting traceability, compliance, and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

Manufacturing Vehicle Product data is published in Databricks Unity Catalog across three production catalogs:

• vehicle_product_prod — vehicle order, build, propulsion traceability, inspection, and vehicle 360 products
• product_component_prod — battery, engine, transmission, and component genealogy / test products
• manufacturing_prod — smart asset tracking and stamping quality products used with Vehicle Product

Prefer silver schemas for governed analytics. Use gold where a curated product already exists. Request bronze only when silver/gold does not yet cover the use case.

Key Benefits

Provides actionable operational data from the plant floor, with potential to support compliance through real-time dashboards, and enables advanced analytics across all General Motors business segments. This data empowers informed decision-making and drives performance improvements enterprise wide.

Getting Access

All requests to access GM data must be reviewed and approved by GM’s privacy team via the Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) tool. GM’s PIA tool helps to identify, assess, and mitigate privacy risks associated with a particular product or service—especially when it collects, uses, stores, or shares personal data. If a PIA has not been approved for your use case, you can submit one using the link: epia.gm.com.

How to Get Access to Product

Workspace access and schema access are separate. You typically need both.

1. Databricks workspace — In MyGM Access, request role A55187 MIDS DBX USER - PROD. After approval you are added to a55187-mids-prod-user and can use:
   • Databricks: https://adb-3119126392701490.10.azuredatabricks.net
   • Instance: a55187-p4-musea2-dbx-main
   • SQL Warehouse: SQL Warehouse - Databricks
2. Schema / table access — In Atlan, search for the catalog (vehicle_product_prod, product_component_prod, or manufacturing_prod), open the schema, and select Request data access. Include your use case and duration. For service principals, request on behalf of the principal; if it is not listed, email grp-usmfg.mfg.im.di.architecture@gm.com.
