Security Operations
Overview
This domain encompasses security posture, landscape and cybersecurity data. We are the Security Operations subset part of the Security business function.
Key Benefits
It helps solve business problems after performing analytics relating to cybersecurity and security operations.
Getting Access
All requests to access GM data must be reviewed and approved by GM’s privacy team via the Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) tool. GM’s PIA tool helps to identify, assess, and mitigate privacy risks associated with a particular product or service—especially when it collects, uses, stores, or shares personal data. If a PIA has not been approved for your use case, you can submit one using the link: epia.gm.com.
How to Get Access to Security Data
- If a user needs access to a specific schema, they need to request the related role via glenda and the access reviewer determines if the request is valid. If approved the user will get access to the schema.
- Access Levels - All three levels of access are available depending on if the user just wants access to data to connect their report to, or if they want to be able to control the data (Power Users) then they have full access to modify tables. We are implementing schema based access, but if there is highly sensitive data, then users have to request access to that specific subset.

Popular Use Cases and Starter Queries
Use Case 1:
Most manufacturing data would be available for users from one platform/service vs trying to get access to several resources. Its best used as a one stop shop for their data needs to create visualizations to answer business problems.
Mack Data:
- Currently has close to 500 users who access the report. Provides a consolidated view of all assets at individual sites and their compliance with key security controls. Total of >23000 assets tracked.
- Actively used by IT and Mfg teams to identify security issues and track remediation.
- Provides trend analysis to identify areas of concern.
- Replaced manual process using excel sheets that were used by teams previously to monitor patch progress.
Use Case 2:
Third Party Contract Data would be available for our users from one source vs getting access to several sources for dashboard creation.
Use Case 3:
Phishing Campaign data is automatically available on a bi-weekly basis via access to data from an API instead of downloading the data from the Cofense site manually. This data is used to create a PowerBI dashboard for data analysis.
